Text-to-Give Message Program

Jewish Federation of San Diego uses (877) 414-3351 for Text to Give, for sign-in codes, and for replies when you text us. We do not send text appeals or text newsletters. Text to Give only replies after you text us a keyword. Sign-in codes are sent only when you ask for one. If you turn Text messages off, we'll email your codes instead. A phone number typed only on a gift form or an event registration is not texted.

How you opt in

By texting us first. Consent for Text to Give is given by sending a keyword to (877) 414-3351 from your own mobile phone. Text to Give has no web form, no pre-ticked box at checkout, and no imported list. The only way a number enters Text to Give is that the number itself sent us a message. My Giving is separate: you can turn text messages on or off from this website. Sign-in codes are sent only when you ask for one. If you turn Text messages off, we'll email your codes instead. That choice is not a text appeal or a text newsletter.

Because the Text to Give opt-in is the message, we never send a Text to Give reply to a number that has not texted us.

Where the keyword appears

Keywords are printed on cards at Federation events, shown on screen during events, and published on our Text to Give page. Every placement carries the same wording, shown on the sample card below.

These keywords are active today. Each one sends the same kind of reply, with a link to the same gift form. Every gift supports Federation’s work where it is needed most:

Every message we send

These are the only five text replies Text to Give can send, quoted exactly as they are written in our system. The first time you text a keyword, we also send our contact card, so you can save our number. That card has no extra text. Sign-in codes are a separate message, described below.

The giving link opens our own donation checkout on this website. Payment is processed by our secure payment processor. No payment details are ever collected over text message, and we will never ask you for a card number, a bank detail or a password by text.

Frequency and cost

We reply once, plus our contact card the first time you text us, so you can save our number. We never send recurring or scheduled texts for Text to Give. How often you hear from us depends on how often you text us. Sign-in codes are sent only when you ask for one. If you turn Text messages off, we'll email your codes instead. We do not send text appeals or text newsletters. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out and HELP for help.

Jewish Federation of San Diego does not charge for these messages. Message and data rates may apply from your mobile carrier. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

The same number also sends a one-time code when you sign in to My Giving, the staff site, or the grants site, and when you confirm a new mobile for that sign-in. We send it only to a mobile number already on your record, or to the mobile you just asked us to confirm.

The message says it is your Jewish Federation sign-in code, or your code to confirm that mobile. It works once and expires in 15 minutes. We send one code each time you ask for one. Message frequency varies. Your number is not added to a marketing list.

Reply STOP to (877) 414-3351 and that number will not receive these codes or Text to Give replies. You can still sign in by email. If you ask us to stop texts in another reasonable way, such as by email or by calling (858) 571-3444, we honor it within 10 business days. Consent is not a condition of giving or of any purchase, and it is separate from the consent to receive calls described in our Privacy Policy.

Texts from My Giving

When you turn on Text messages in My Giving, we record that choice. Sign-in codes are sent only when you ask for one. If you turn Text messages off, we'll email your codes instead. We do not send text appeals or text newsletters. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out and HELP for help. Consent is not a condition of giving or of any purchase.

We never share your mobile number for someone else's marketing.

Getting help

Reply HELP to any message from (877) 414-3351 and we will send you our name and phone number. You can also reach a person at (858) 571-3444 during business hours, or email info@jewishinsandiego.org.

Stopping messages

Reply STOP at any time. We confirm once, and then that number receives nothing further from us, including replies to keywords. Opt-out is recorded against the number itself and is honored immediately.

If you change your mind, reply START to the same number.

Your number and your privacy

When you text us we store your mobile number, the message you sent, the keyword it matched, and the time. We use it to reply to you, to honor a STOP, and to record the gift if you make one. When you turn on Text messages in My Giving, we keep a record of the consent wording you agreed to, the date, and your IP address and browser.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. We do not sell, rent or trade phone numbers. Your number is handled by our text message provider solely to deliver the message, and by our donor database if you choose to give.
