Uniting Against Antisemitism
We are witnessing an unsettling increase in antisemitic incidents and violence, both locally and across the nation. From Washington D.C. to Boulder to San Diego, it is clear that the stakes are monumental when antisemitism is left unchecked and allowed to fester.
But we are taking action. We have joined The Finest Community Coalition as a founding member, and we are expanding Jewish engagement with the wider San Diegan community.
Our programs and partnerships promote advocacy, education, and community outreach as we unite to resist rising antisemitism. We must continue to do all we can to stem the terrible tide and build a stronger and resilient community.
Advancing Holocaust Education
We are at a turning point. The memories of the Holocaust are fading and all too often replaced by misinformation and resurgent hate. It is imperative that the lessons of the Holocaust are not lost but are taught anew to cultivate a culture of awareness and empathy.
This urgency is matched by our Federation’s largest-ever received donation, funding the launch of the Goldberg Family Holocaust Education Program & Mobile Museum, a program that will bring modernized Holocaust education to learners of all ages and backgrounds throughout San Diego County.

The Finest Community Coalition
Federation is a proud founding member of The Finest Community Coalition, a new and independent initiative with a community-wide approach to combating antisemitism in San Diego.
The Coalition serves as a collaborative platform for Jewish and non-Jewish leaders, organizations, and other independent initiatives to coordinate strategies and collectively respond to rising antisemitism the San Diego region.

Antisemitism Roundtable
Launched in early 2023, the Antisemitism Roundtable serves as a communal space for organizations addressing antisemitism to engage in information sharing, identify opportunities and challenges, and develop relationships that will strengthen our community’s approach to combat antisemitism.
Led and convened by our Federation, participating organizations include ADL San Diego, AJC San Diego, Hillel San Diego, Jewish Family Service San Diego, Lawrence Family JCC | JACOBS Family Campus, and Leichtag Foundation.

Project Shema
Project Shema is an independent nonprofit organization that trains and supports the Jewish community and allies to understand and address contemporary antisemitism, with an emphasis on how anti-Jewish ideas can emerge in progressive spaces and in discourse around Israel and Palestine.
Founded by Jewish leaders with deep ties in social justice movements, Project Shema brings a fresh and humanizing approach to these challenging issues. Named after the Hebrew word Shema, which means “to hear,” “to listen,” or “understand,” Project Shema works to deepen understanding and build compassion and bridges across communities.
Federation’s ongoing partnership with Project Shema offers opportunities for information sharing, leadership training, community engagement and education, and more.
Building Allyship
Hate of any kind has no place in San Diego. Federation continues to build relationships with diverse faith and community leaders as we seek to create a united stance against prejudice.

JPAC Partnership
Our Federation is a participating member of the Jewish Public Affairs Committee of California (JPAC), which serves as the lead voice of California’s Jewish community to our State Capitol. In addition to active participation, we support local advocacy training to ensure the needs and interests of our San Diego Jewish community are well-represented in Sacramento.
