Travel with Purpose

In response to October 7th, Israelis united around a collective volunteering effort to fill gaps in society. The work to rebuild and renew is just getting started, and the San Diego community is rallying its support for the people and land of Israel while the needs are greatest.  In partnership with Birthright Israel Volunteer and Israel Outdoors, Jewish Federation of San Diego invites you to take part in a volunteer journey unlike any other. Together, we will support vital projects across Israel, with dedicated time in our sister region, Sha’ar HaNegev—helping communities rebuild, standing in solidarity with Israelis, and deepening the enduring ties that connect San Diego and Israel.

What to Expect:

• Volunteer: Meaningful opportunity to give back with hands on projects where it’s needed most
• Connect: Visit the border communities, stand in solidarity with the families of the hostages, and connect with Sha’ar HaNegev peers
• Explore: Explore the city, night life and cuisine of Tel Aviv on your own

Program Includes:

• Double-occupancy rooms in upgraded accommodations (above standard Birthright lodging)
• A dedicated security guard for the duration of the trip
• Opening and closing dinner receptions

Eligibility:

• Identify as Jewish
• Ages 27-50
• Currently living in San Diego
• No prior Israel experience required
• Previous Israel trips do not exclude eligibility
