Each year the Jewish community retells the Passover story as a reminder that we were once strangers in a strange land. But how are we welcoming the stranger today? Join JFS, Leichtag Foundation, and Center for Jewish Culture for a community screening of Refugee Kids, a short documentary that follows students at a New York City summer program for children seeking asylum from the world’s most volatile conflicts. The film presents an intimate, emotionally gripping account of the students’ stories of escaping war and conflict and resettling in America, chronicling their triumphs and setbacks as their lives unfold over the course of one formative summer. The film's director and local panel will discuss how all of us can come together to create a welcoming community for people fleeing persecution.
Free and open to the community.
Light refreshments will be served. Space is limited.
