Dear women, you are invited to mark International Women’s Day together with the first undercover
fighter women in the IDF, Shir Peled. Shir Peled was drafted into the Israel Border Police in 2002, and at just 19 years old became one of the first women to serve as an undercover fighter in their elite counter-terrorism unit – a real life version of the Fauda television show. Over a period of four years, she participated in numerous missions to gather intelligence and intercept terrorists, risking her life each time she infiltrated hostile populations in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

It was extremely unusual for women to volunteer for combat units at that time, but Shir, deeply affected
by growing up in Jerusalem during the Second Intifada, was searching for the most meaningful service she could find. She undertook an exceptionally difficult and dangerous front-line role, while also dealing with the challenges of serving in an otherwise all-male environment.

Today, Shir lectures in Israel and internationally on her experiences as an undercover fighter and how to build strong resilience. And with the community she founded’ “combat sisterhood” raising awareness to the pressing need for gender equality and creating leadership programs for combat women.

The event will be in English and we will have wine and cheese.
