With Professor Susan Shirk

As China grows more powerful, it is asserting itself more forcefully in Asia. This could put it on a collision course with its neighbors and the United States. What are the domestic factors driving China’s increasing assertiveness? And how should the United States manage its relationship with China? Susan Shirk, chair of the UCSD 21st Century China program and former Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for China (1997-2000), will discuss the domestic challenges China’s leaders face and how they influence Chinese policies toward its Asian neighbors and the United States. Co-Sponsored by San Dieguito Chapter Brandeis National Committee.

$5 with RSVP, $8 without RSVP. Please RSVP at least one week in advance.
