Author and humorist Gary Shteyngart appears at UC San Diego's Mandeville Auditorium for this FREE event presented by the Division of Arts & Humanities. He will share the stage with Dean of Arts & Humanities Seth Lerer for a lively conversation about Shteyngart's life and work including his latest book 'Little Failure: A Memoir'. A book signing will follow. Shteyngart is also the author of 'Absurdistan' and 'Super Sad True Love Story,' and he has written for the New York Times, Slate, Granta and Travel & Leisure. He was born in Russia but his family moved when he was 7 to Queens, NY. His memoir is colored by his dark experiences as a Jew caught between cultures who struggled to find a career suited to his artistic inclinations. Shteyngart's stories and dark self-deprecating humor may remind one of Woody Allen and David Sedaris.
