NextGen Empowered His Impact in the Community

Yoni Levinger moved to San Diego from New York for a job opportunity. With no connection to the Jewish community, he was invited to attend a NextGen Newcomer's Brunch, a decision that he says lead him to becoming not only actively involved in our community, but a community leader.

After attending his first brunch, he joined the social committee simply as a means to make new friends.  “What I actually received in return has been way beyond anything I expected,” he said.  Not only did he make great friends within the NextGen community, but also joining the committee that day opened the door to so many great opportunities to get involved and in creating a platform to share his passions with the San Diego Jewish community.

“With my passion for Jewish learning combined with strong support from Federation’s NextGen board, I was given an opportunity to help develop a brand new program called Torah on Tap,” he continued. “Torah on Tap is a new and fun way to engage young adults in our community. I have received so much satisfaction in knowing that people enjoy the program and they see it as a great way to learn some Torah wisdom in a fun atmosphere.”

For Yoni, joining NextGen has engaged him with Jewish young adults and empowered him to create a unique program.

“I am grateful for these opportunities that have allowed me to grow in my Jewish pride and nurture my strengths in leadership & community development,” he concluded.
