Meet the Women's Philanthropy Board: Karen Deicas DePodesta

Each week we will be introducing you to one of our Federation Women's Philanthropy Board Members.

This week, we wish to introduce you to:

Karen Deicas DePodesta

Karen Deicas DePodesta was born in Mexico City and moved to the US at the age of 10. She has lived in 6 cities, including stops for college and graduate school, before settling back in San Diego with her husband and 4 kids to be near her parents and family.

Karen recently helped launched The Sports Mind Institute, as well as showing and selling her award-winning paintings in galleries world-wide.

In her “spare time” she volunteers with all aspects related to her kids’ schools and their commitments. Once Chair of Nierman Preschool and JCC Board Member, Karen is now chairing Social Action for Women’s Philanthropy.

Her parents, schooling, summer camp, life in Israel, travels and raising kids have all combined-influenced her Jewish identity, for which she is ever grateful.
