Consul General of Israel Visits San Diego

On Monday, January 30th, the newly appointed Consul General of Israel, Sam Grundwerg, was welcomed by the San Diego Jewish community.

His visit began in the morning with a meeting at the Jewish Federation of San Diego County. There he met with the staffs of Federation, ADL, Camp Mountain Chai, Hadassah and the Jewish Community Foundation.

From there he met with Jewish community leaders at Congregation Beth Israel, where he shared his vision for the work of the Consulate and it’s ongoing relationships with the communities he serves.

It was also a time to hear from the community its hopes and concerns about Israel and our relationship with it.  The CG then made a visit to The House of Israel in Balboa Park where he learned the history of the HOI and its place among the many countries represented at the Park.

And finally, in the evening, he met with Federation leadership and major donors at the home of Board Chair Brian and Laura Tauber.

His message throughout the day was that the Consulate is here to partner with San Diego in meaningful ways to help us engage our community with and about Israel, and ultimately, to lend greater and deeper support to the State of Israel.
