On Sunday, June 2, 2019, more than 3,000 San Diegans gathered in celebration of Yom Ha'atzmaut—Israeli Independence Day.  In the wake of the Poway tragedy, Celebrate Israelfest served as a unique opportunity to join together in solidarity and pride for Israel, San Diego, and our thriving Jewish community. There was joy, happiness, and connection all around.  Federation CEO, Michael Jeser, shared, “Fostering dynamic connections with Israel is core to our mission at the Jewish Federation.  We are so proud to be able to bring our community together in a way that celebrates that connection and builds deeper understanding about and pride in our global Jewish family.”

Through meaningful partnerships and connections, we are building a strong and enduring San Diego Jewish community. Your support also allows us to send over 100 teens to Israel each year through My Israel Journey scholarships; to build a 21 year-strong relationship with our partnership Region of Sha’ar HaNegev; to welcome three new ShinShinim to San Diego; to send hundreds of young professionals on Birthright Israel; to build a lasting and inclusive Jewish community; care for vulnerable seniors; fund critical social services on the ground in Israel, and so much more. This is the power of Federation.

A special thank you to our presenting partner, Israeli American Council San Diego.
“The Israeli-American Council – San Diego was proud to help bring together the community in celebration and support of Israel,” said IAC San Diego Regional Manager Merav Shenhar. “This was an event for all Israel lovers that displayed a surge of pride for the Jewish state and unity among the Jewish people. We were grateful to work with our community partner, the Jewish Federation of San Diego County, to bring Celebrate Israelfest to life.”

We also thank our Premier Partners, Jewish Family Service, Congregation Beth Israel, Chabad Hebrew Academy, Camp Mountain Chai, Lawrence Family JCC & Camp Jaycee , and Caliber3USA. Special thanks to CEG interactive for providing the green screen photo booth rental. Thank you for your support of Celebrate Israelfest! We can’t wait for next year!
