A Note from our Newest Community Connector

My involvement with Federation began over 17 years ago, my twins were approximately one and I was invited to attend a "breakfast club" event at Rancho Valencia Inn. My beautiful and dear friend Penny introduced the speaker and I remember being so impressed. I also remember meeting Jan Tuttleman that day as well as Terri B. Their energy, excitement and loveliness attracted me, this made we want to get "involved".

My next event was held at Jan's beautiful home in La Jolla in which we listened to a speaker and learned about becoming a table captain. I am proud to say this will be my 15th year as a table captain! I am intrigued by the collective power of being in a room of over 800 women, it is a tradition I cherish.

After my first stint as a table captain I was asked to become involved with the "lunch club". These lunch and learn sessions acted as an outreach program to Jewish women throughout the North County. My love of learning encouraged me to become part of the committee and this is where I cultivated my friendship with the amazing Laura Tauber. She and I remain close and what she and Brian have accomplished for Federation continues to inspire me.

Laura and Tammy Moch then asked me to help out with soliciting, capitalizing on my sales experience. This is where I learned about all the important programs funded by Federation in San Diego and throughout the world.

My latest stint with Federation is helping the ladies at Shalom Baby with the PJ Library program. My on going passion for literacy programs enticed me into being a part of promoting and improving the awareness of PJ Library within the local Jewish pre-schools. They call me a "parent connector".

There you have it; the history of a stay at home mom who found a way to put her workforce skills and education towards Tikun Ulum.

Sincerely,

Heather Arnold
