DAY ONE - THURSDAY, MAY 4:  OPENING EVENT: OVERNIGHT JERUSALEM

  • Optional activities for early arrivals 

  • Opening event Celebrating Israel:

    • Mission Parade along the Walls of the Old City 

    • Food stations with the best of Israel’s street food

    • Distinguished guest speaker

DAY TWO - FRIDAY, MAY 5: OVERNIGHT JERUSALEM

  • Morning session - Global Perspective on Israel Today:  Challenges and Inspiration

  • Tour Yad Vashem in small groups, Mission Ceremony at Valley of the Communities

  • Lunch and free time at Machne Yehuda Market or optional lunch (preregistration 10-20ppl max, additional cost) 

  • Kabbalat Shabbat led by San Diego rabbis

  • Walk to Kotel

  • Festive Shabbat dinner outdoors at the First Station (Jerusalem’s renovated Old Train Station Compound), with dinners guests including San Diegan Masa Participants, San Diegan Lone Soldiers, former San Diegan Shlichim, San Diegan  teens, and San Diegans living in Israel

  • Optional Tish: Hasidic custom of gathering around a table to share songs, meaningful words and drinks

 

DAY THREE - SHABBAT, MAY 6:  OVERNIGHT JERUSALEM, OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES 

  • Visit various Jerusalem synagogues for Shabbat services

  • Yoga session

  • Text Study with San Diego rabbis

  • Guided Walking Tour of Old and New Jerusalem 

  • Art Tour of Machne Yehuda Market

  • Traditional Shabbat lunch at your hotel (additional cost)

  • Shabbat together with Hartman Institute professors in the early evening

  • Havdalah ceremony 

  • Time to connect with other participants at small group dinners (pre-registration, 10-20 ppl max, additional cost) at some of the trendiest restaurants in Jerusalem

  • Enjoy the spectacular Sound and Light Show at the Tower of David (additional cost)

  • Tour the Western Wall Tunnels (additional cost)

DAY FOUR-SUNDAY, MAY 7: OVERNIGHT JERUSALEM

DAY FIVE - MONDAY, MAY 8: OVERNIGHT TEL AVIV, PARTNERSHIP DAY IN SHA’AR HANEGEV

  • Travel south by train in private cars to Sderot

  • Greetings and welcome by Mayor Alon Davidi of Sderot and Mayor Ofir Libstein of Sha’ar HaNegev

  • Time to explore our partnership region with leaders from Sha’ar HaNegev: 

    • Security briefing on the border 

    • Park Arazim

    • Lunch with kibbutz families at their homes

    • Afternoon site visits

    • Dedication and ribbon cutting at Sports and Young Adults Center

    • Basketball court dedication to Michael Jeser z”l

    • Presentation of Viterbi Arts Festival students’ works

  • End the day with a Lag B’Omer Festival at Kibbutz Ruhama with Israeli dancing; music; Israeli style BBQ dinner; art fair with local artisans; traditional bonfire; belly dancers and drum circles

 

DAY SIX - TUESDAY, MAY 9: OVERNIGHT TEL AVIV

  • Panel Discussion with leading experts on Being a Jew in the Diaspora-Escalation of Antisemitism

  • Customize your trip with our second day of Boutique Personal Electives of Interest

  • A special ceremony at Rothschild Bl. to recall David Ben Gurion proclaiming the establishment of the State of Israel

  • Dinner and evening on your own in the city that never sleeps or small group dinners (additional cost)

 

DAY SEVEN - WEDNESDAY, MAY 10: OVERNIGHT TEL AVIV, GOING NORTH

  • Security briefings with expert

  • Joint Distribution Committee and Jewish Agency for Israel (Federations’ global partners) site visits

  • One or more of these visits: Atlit Detention Camp; Knight Hall in Akko; NGT3 technological incubator in Nazareth; Zippori National Park; Safed 

  • Festive dinner and outdoor concert with Israeli singer, joined by guests and IDF soldiers

 

DAY EIGHT - THURSDAY, MAY 11

  • Morning session followed by Joint Distribution Committee and Jewish Agency for Israel (Federations’ global partners) site visits

  • Free time for last-minute shopping and enjoy lunch on your own. 

  • Visit the Anu Museum – Museum of the Jewish People with private tours

  • Opportunity for reflections and making 2023 pledge to Federation Annual Campaign

  • Farewell Dinner at Park Yehoshua Venue with trip video and final remarks

  • Drive to Ben Gurion Airport for your return flight – or – stay longer in Israel/trip extension to the UAE
