May 18: Community Safety Update Regarding Ongoing Emergency Situation

Jewish Federation of San Diego is aware of an ongoing emergency situation that prompted several Jewish and other religious institutions across the area, including our building, to initiate lockdown procedures out of an abundance of caution. The response follows reports of a possible active shooter incident at the Islamic Center.

At this time, we are actively monitoring the situation and remain in close communication with law enforcement and relevant security partners. The safety and well-being of our staff, community members, and partner organizations remains our highest priority.

We are praying for the safety and well-being of all those impacted, and stand with all members of our broader community during this difficult and uncertain moment.

We recognize that situations like this can cause fear and uncertainty across the broader community. We are grateful for the swift response of law enforcement and security personnel who are working to assess and respond to the situation.
