Women's Philanthropy is an embracing arm of the Jewish Federation of San Diego County. We create programs for women as a way to outreach, engage, network, educate, fundraise and build Jewish community.
Women's Philanthropy of the Jewish Federation of San Diego County supports and enhances Jewish community life through fundraising and educational and outreach programs. It inspires women to devote their time and financial resources to the needs of Jews locally, globally, and in Israel.
For over 50
years, San Diego Jewish women have worked together to preserve and enrich our
community's Jewish culture and heritage. We celebrate our
traditions, explore our history and educate
our community through a variety of volunteer
opportunities. Our myriad efforts have a profound impact on the future
of the Jewish community not only here in San Diego, but in Israel
and around the globe.
We invite you to join us in an environment where every Jewish woman can enrich and strengthen her identity as a woman and a Jew and help make a difference in our world.
At a time when apathy and assimilation threaten us, we invite you to join the thousands of Jewish women who are leading by example.

The Women's Annual Campaign gives every woman the opportunity to make a gift in her own name and to assume individual responsibility for saving, sustaining, and enriching Jewish lives. In addition, these women lead other women and their own families by example. Get involved with our Jewish Federation by making a gift to our Annual Campaign and make a difference in our world today.

Each year, Women's Philanthropy holds an event to celebrate the power of women and raise critically needed funds for our local and global community. The event gathers over 600 women who share a passion for their community and the values we stand for. Past keynote speakers have included Dr. Judah Pearl, author and co-founder of the Daniel Pearl Foundation and father of slain Wall Street Journal journalist, Daniel Pearl; Brigitte Gabriel, leading expert on global Islamic terrorism; and Anita Diamant, author of the best seller “The Red Tent.”
OPTIONS is the largest annual gathering of women in the San Diego Jewish Community. The two primary purposes of this event are: 1) to strengthen the community through outreach and educating the women of our community about the work that Federation supports, and 2) to be the primary focus of fundraising efforts for the Federation's Women's Philanthropy Campaign. OPTIONS attracts new donors, ideally building the base for the next generation of Federation supporters. The program conveys Federation's mission by inspiring contributions as well as community involvement.
The 2011 evening commenced with wine and light hors d'oeuvres, dinner and dessert. The program featured Alina Spaulding, daughter of former Soviet refuseniks, who has become a renowned Jewish leader throughout the U.S.; and Erin Gruwell, the inspiring activist teacher who was portrayed by Hillary Swank in “Freedom Writers.” The event also included the presentation of the prestigious Anne Ratner Award to longtime Federation leader Andrea Oster.
Women's Philanthropy Board Members get involved with the San Diego community and participate in various projects throughout the year. Providing holiday gifts for families in need, collecting business clothing for military wives and visiting seniors at our local Seacrest Village Retirement Communities are just a few ways we provide meaningful engagement for our community.
