Our Goal is to raise urgently needed funds for Humanitarian Aid

In response to the dramatic increase in Israel's humanitarian needs in Israel, the United Jewish Federation of San Diego County is calling on the Jewish community to put Israel's needs "front and center" in joining a global Jewish appeal to raise hundreds of millions of dollars. Through The Israel Emergency Campaign, funds must be raised in the coming weeks. The “HELP. GIVE. HOPE” campaign is being chaired by Andrew Viterbi and Claire Ellman.

One hundred percent of donations will go directly to
Israel with services delivered through the Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI) and Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) and other Jewish organizations.  Israel Emergency Campaign donations will support these and many other critical needs:

1.      Keeping Children Safe. Thousands of children have been moved from dangerous areas to hastily arranged summer camps in the center of the country to keep them out of harm’s way.  Hundreds of volunteers are caring for these children living 24 hours a day in shelters. Volunteers and professionals are working hard to give these children a sense of normalcy - to minimize trauma in the short- and long-term.

2.      Supporting the Fund for Victims of Terror.  This crisis demands that the Fund for Victims of Terror be replenished, through the ISRAEL EMERGENCY CAMPAIGN, to provide medical care, equipment, counseling, transportation and other needs to new victims and their families.

3.      Caring for the vulnerable: seniors, the disabled and recent Ethiopian immigrants. Transportation to safe areas, needed equipment, meals on wheels, counseling, medical care and other services are being provided to keep them safe, and provide comfort as they wait out the attacks.

4.      Upgrading shelters, temporary housing and rebuilding facilities. Within days, under-equipped shelters were outfitted with air conditioners, toilets, TVs and games for the children. Facilities have been converted to temporary housing. Critical facilities, including absorption centers for new Ethiopian immigrants, have been severely damaged.

 5. Rebuilding communal infrastructure and supporting economic hardship.

Re-equipping damaged community services and updating and equipping bomb shelters. Upgrading emergency vehicles. Vocational training for newly unemployed and small business loans. Responding to cuts in government support of educational and social welfare as a result of increased defense needs by providing educational programs and assistance to vulnerable populations affected by social welfare cuts.
