ISRAEL TRAVEL SCHOLARSHIP - ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

The Jewish Federation Israel & Overseas Center is pleased to offer need-based scholarships for student travel to Israel. Please read the following guidelines:

  • Scholarships are for teens and young adults ages 13 to 26, who are full time students, participating in nationally recognized travel/study programs affiliated with a pluralistic and Zionist Jewish organization.
  • All applicants must be residents of San Diego County.
  • Domestic flight expenses, travel insurance, or personal expenses are not covered by the scholarship.
  • Only the student may complete this application. The quality of the application is considered in the awarding of scholarships.
  • The application must be typed with all questions and sections completed. If a section is not applicable, please explain. Applications missing any requested materials will NOT be considered.
  • If the student is under the age of 18, both parents must sign the application. If there are extenuating circumstances, please explain.
  • Scholarship funds are sent directly to the sponsoring organization, not the applicant.

The following items must accompany the application:

  • A copy of the parents’ most recent tax return, including all schedules.
  • Student tax forms are not acceptable, as they do not provide an accurate account of financial need.
  • Two letters of recommendation; applicants are encouraged to have at least one from a Jewish communal professional. Jewish communal professionals include: Rabbi, Cantor, Religious School Director, Professor of Judaic Studies, Hillel Director, Religious School Teacher, Youth Group Director, etc.
  • Second reference suggestions include: Guidance Counselor, Teacher or Professor, Principal, Employer, Jewish Communal Lay Leader, etc.
